Events & School Visits
"Helen Peters is a fabulous guest author, who engages and inspires children and young people at both large scale and small group events equally. I have worked with Helen on many occasions in shop, workshop, schools and festival settings and her audiences are always transported to the world of her books and enthralled by her speaking. Her interest in the children’s ideas and her generosity of sharing her own are always a joy."

I love doing events and meeting readers. I have appeared at many festivals, including the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Hay Festival. If you’d like to get in touch about a possible event, please contact my publicist at Nosy Crow, Rebecca Mason, rebecca@nosycrow.com.
“The Year 1 and 2 teachers fed back that the workshops were amazing! The children absolutely loved the story planning and writing, and it has got them so excited. Thank you so much for being such an amazing part of our book fortnight for them.”
Rebecca Freeman, English Lead, Lady Boswell’s C of E Primary School, Sevenoaks
As an English and Drama teacher myself, I love doing school events. I visit schools all over the country, working with children from Reception to KS3, and I offer a choice of in-person and virtual visits tailored to your needs, from assembly style author talks with Q&A sessions to creative writing workshops with small groups of children. I can offer talks and workshops related to specific themes in my books, ranging from children’s lives in the Second World War to animal rescue and adventure stories.
If you are interested in booking me to visit your school, please contact Authors Aloud, using the link below.
"At Kestle Barton, Helen Peters led six marvellous workshops for all years 4-6 in our local schools. The children enjoyed themselves enormously and the staff reported back that there was some terrific work made following Helen’s sessions. She was able to engage directly with the children in a warm and friendly way and did not require powerpoint which we see as a huge bonus organisationally but also great for the children as it led to some very interesting conversations about the process of writing - ways in which to find inspiration and the value of editing.
I highly recommend Helen."

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for coming to Windlesham yesterday. The children are buzzing still, and copies of the books can be seen all over the school today, especially Friends and Traitors. We really enjoyed the talks; I especially loved the code breaking and solving of clues.”
Alexia Bolton, Librarian
Windlesham House School, Sussex
“Thank you so much for your visit to our school. Both children and staff really enjoyed every minute of it and the children seemed truly inspired and motivated to become authors themselves. The book sales were excellent, and this is obviously testament to both you and your fabulous selection of children's books!”
Lucy Lee
St. Thomas Becket Catholic Primary School, Croydon
"Thank you so much for the three inspiring talks you gave to the school. I have had multiple reservations on your books this morning from both teachers and pupils!”

Author in Residence
Since 2019 I have been Author in Residence at Kensington Prep School. I visit the school for a day each term, working with the Head of English and the school librarian to devise a programme of talks, Q&A sessions and creative writing workshops based on my books. Over the course of a year I work with every class from Reception to Year 6.
If your school or organisation would be interested in having me as Author in Residence, please get in touch via the Contact form, and we can discuss a programme of visits to suit your needs.
"Helen continues to be a wonderful Author in Residence for Kensington Prep School. Her books span the primary age range, her output is prolific and she is a former teacher by trade; as such, she effortlessly engages all our girls time after time. Over the last few years we have enjoyed a variety of presentations and workshops. Helen is so personable, organised and accommodating that she is a joy to work with. To our girls she is such a role model, demystifying the role of the author and inspiring their own creativity. She has been such a great find!

Head of English, Kensington Prep School
"Helen's books are beautifully written timeless tales which engage immediately.
Her Jasmine Green stories for ages 5 -7 are perfect for young animal lovers, and her novels for older children are authentic and thoughtful but also real page-turners.
Her school presentations are brilliant - and she has run several very successful creative workshops at our bookshop. We absolutely love her and her books!"
